Samurai Deeper Kyo Manga Opinion

Samurai Deeper Kyo Opinion Review

One of many Samurai Deeper MMV's
I used this one cause it shows many characters and small portions of the manga but many of the MMV's out pretty much spoil the ending this one doesn't.

Samurai Deeper Kyo is a very Long Manga with a huge following. If you have not read this you are missing out. It is an excellent Manga. This is the very first Samurai manga I ever read and I became addicted to the genre because of it. I then sprouted off into martial arts as well. But before Samurai Deeper Kyo, the things closest to the Samurai genre I had read were probably Bleach and Inuyasha.

*Rant about the anime... skip it if you don't plan to watch the anime
I first want to say though this is a review of the Manga, by no means should you read the Manga and then go to the Anime with any expectations, you will be severely disappointed. If you must watch the Anime, you should do so before you begin reading or at least before you read more than the first 10 chapters. The anime shares the name, some of the main characters, and some parts of some of the battle as well as the dislike between Kyo and Kyoshiro in the beginning but that is where the likeness ends. They even added a main character to Kyo's team and took out all the shiseiten except Akira and Hotaru. However, my biggest qualm about the anime is Where is the Mibu (they play a cameo appearance near the ending in the dark with only hotaru and his half brother and those 2 dumb doctor bimbo's when they first get to the Mibu area. There is no story line. The Crimson King is mentioned but never mentioned again. Then the thing that pissed me off most of all was the ending. I promise there will not be a single person who isn't like "what the f*ck" if they read it and if they didn't they may think like that too the probability is good and if they don't they will almost assuredly go online looking answers on what really happened in the end if the anime doesn't turn you off to the series completely. Sakuya is pretty much a dumb b*tch in both. Yuya has dumb moments in both especially in the beginning. However, she at least can fight with more than that gun that hits nothing in the anime and her annoying personality doesn't last forever. Finally other than the ending which was the biggest issue of the whole anime, The visit with Muramasa was just wrong in so many ways. They tried to put important parts into the Anime that didn't fit with the amended story line. The amended story line was garbage. Ill let you watch it and draw your own conclusions but I suggest you watch it first unless you want to have an extremely unfavorable outlook on it and go into it with the thoughts in mind that no matter how bad it is, the manga is awesome.

*Now onto my Manga Review
This manga is extremely long. It is completed with a total of 308 chapters. But the whole thing is well worth your time. I promise. It is well written and well drawn. In my personal opinion it was a shame it ended when it did. I wished they went further into the future. But perhaps after the creator finnishes their newest series called Code Breaker they will do some small additions to the story. Though most likely they wouldn't do more than little specials with the characters in it. Personally, I started their new series Code Breaker only because it was created by the people who made Samurai Deeper. Some of the Characters remind me of Samurai Deeper Characters. However, in my opinion, though it is popular, Code Breaker pales in comparison to Samurai Deeper Kyo.

There are some major questions I would ask if I were to ever get a chance to speak to the author. Some of them I couldn't tell you until you finished the series because it would spoil some things for you. My biggest question is  about the "True Mibu" people. According to the story, they were damn near immortal. With such a long period of living, and so many powers, I had wondered if a Mibu decided to be with a normal human being, was it within their ability to make the normal human's life longer, or would the normal person just get old and then the Mibu would leave and move on alone? That is one of the biggest questions I have, I assume the creator has been asked before or thought about it at least, so I wonder what their answer would have been. Maybe they couldn't save them so they would kill them while they are still young and bring their loved one back as a zombie...lol. Just kidding.

Sakuya is my least favorite Character in the Anime as well as the Manga. She drives me absolutely insane in the Anime. However, in the Manga she is still almost as retarded. Though to be honest, I must say, the pairing of Her and Kyoshiro is correct. Kyoshiro has the passive, stupid, nice guy, protective, understanding, and lenient thing going on. He is also a extremely good Sword fighter if he has to protect someone he cares about. Sakuya is the stupid, selfish, klutzy  want her cake and eat it to, interfering  and getting in trouble, tragic heroin type. So there is nobody better for them but each other, though I am sure she wishes that Kyo was still into her so she could string him along together with Kyoshiro. One of her biggest flaws is never thinking things through, Sakuya cannot fight but pretty much left to go to the enemy's side when she was in hiding hoping she could do....... what? hoping she could do what? She can't fight all she can do is see the future and the enemy had been looking for her to use her abilities and everyone was trying to protect her for her sake. She is a dunce.

Now with that out of my system. My favorite Character most obviously is Kyo. Kyo has exceptional skills with a sword, and the ability to get better quickly. He doesn't have the stupid moral dilemmas that are prevalent in so many other samurai/ martial arts manga and manhwa ,main characters. Yes you can still see this type in Kyoshiro but Kyo has no qualms with killing the enemy so long as they cannot be swayed. He shows himself off as a bad man but he is more complicated than that. He doesn't warm up to people easily but that in my opinion is to be expected with the type of life he lived up until he meet his current group. He is handsome but he also is very cute in his way to express his emotions toward a girl he doesn't just want to sleep with. He treats Yuya the way a elementary school kid treats a crush. In my opinion that is so cute. He also has shown that he is willing to do whatever it takes to keep safe those he treasures and cares about though he would not ever verbally say so. Kyo is yet another example of the type of man that has almost completely disappeared in our current era. He may be a fictional character but in my opinion back then, in Asia at least, honor seemed to be very important and what constituted honor was a lot different and more strict than what we consider to be honorable today. But maybe other people would disagree.

I could go on and on about the Samurai Deeper Kyo manga. After all it is one of my all time favorites. However, I am sure some of you have gotten sick of reading this post some time ago. So, without further ado, This is the last thing I will tell you. Over all, Samurai Deeper Kyo is an extremely violent manga, the anime is as well though not as bad as the manga. There is also plenty of adult conversations, thoughts, and topless shots especially in the beginning of the manga. So I would have to say, though some younger kids would be good with the anime, the manga is another matter. I cannot suggest that children read it unless you as a parent read it first and think otherwise. This is more geared toward older teens and adults. However, if you have no issues with violence and have not had a chance to try this manga. I suggest you do. It is  very well done and I am sure quite a few people will really enjoy it.

Be Heun Webtoon Opinion

Be Heun Opinion Review

Be Heun is a excellent Korean Webcomic. It's unfortunate, but it is largely overlooked by English speaking Manga and Manhwa fans. I think it is truly a great work, well deserving of international respect and support. The author and artist obviously love and are very proud of their story. The art and writing shows great attention to detail and is virtually never (1 time) in black and white.
The fight scenes and bodies of the characters are extremely well drawn and their feelings are conveyed powerfully through the work. This story allows you to really get into it and understand and feel the characters. In the 40 chapters I have had the pleasure of reading in English; It is obvious that the author is very skilled at creating feelings through his writing. Even when I went to look at the Webtoon in it's original language when Easy Going Scan's Dropped it, I had no problem getting the gist of what was going on through the exceptional art. However, in seeing the original it only further made me want to be able to get a chance to read what the characters are saying.
The main character Be Heun also Known as Black Wolf is a simple guy in a complex way... if that makes any sense. Original observations of him made him seem like a simple guy who was good at fighting. However, if that was really the case he wouldn't be good as the main character of a story. He has lived though a lot of struggle and much more is to come as the book progresses. He seems to be almost cold originally. However, in truth, he has more feelings than he shows on his sleeve.
Be Heun is yet another example of a man who is very attractive. Though he is almost too muscular for me, he is definitely not lacking in looks or attractive personality. I find that cold on the surface thing attractive in certain men... Okay I will keep my comments on that to a minimum.
In almost all stories with samurai, martial artists, or action that include romance, there is usually an extremely annoying woman who somehow becomes the love interest at one point weather its previous, or current. If you look at Samurai X (Karou), or Samurai Deeper Kyo (Sakuya and Yuya in the beginning), or The Breaker  ( SaHee). Even in the anime Samurai Champloo (Fuu), the lead or supporting women are always just as annoying as they can be. How is it exactly that these characters get such bad taste in women? Anyways, I brought this up because though some of the women in this story can be annoying at times, (which really is the case with all women including myself) over all none of them are ridiculously annoying like in the previously mentioned series. Which really makes me happier and not wish that the lead characters love interest passes away (yes I know I am being a b*tch here).
Also I am not a big fan of comedy. If the story tries too hard to be funny I quit reading it. I do like some comedy if it is done correctly, but in this area I am very picky, so I tend to steer clear of it. However, this story is one of the few that has comedy in it at just the right places, but not so much that it annoys me. The comedy is done in a really cool manner.
Overall I cannot find one seriously bad point to this story yet. Not one person or part makes me want to put this story down. It really is hard to find stories like this for an opinionated person like me. I would definitely suggest this comic to others. However, be warned that it is violent and may not be good for young impressionable kids. Though as I had previously stated in another opinion post, you should try it out and draw your own conclusions on that matter.

The Breaker Manhwa Opinion

The Breaker

This is a MMV created by a fan for The Breaker and The Breaker New Waves. You can find other mmv's on my blog

My Opinion of The Breaker

The Breaker is one of my favorite top 10 comic's that I have read and it fits high on that list. So It is an obvious place for me to start in my reviews. It is a Korean Manhwa, One of the best known ones. The author has decided to make it into a trilogy story with The Breaker being the first part. In my opinion out of the 2 written so far, (The Breaker, and The Breaker: new waves) The first is a better story. However, the second gives you the background and info you need most likely for the 3rd story to make sense which has yet to come out. You should definitely try this one out.
The story originally starts off kinda slow, but becomes one in which you cannot put it down after a few chapters. In the beginning, the main character Shioon, almost made me put the book down. He was cast as the spineless guy who was picked on and would do anything even sell out his friends in order to get out of getting hit a few extra times. I really cannot stand that type of person. The fact that he even thought about feeding his last supporter to the lions is just awful. When he approached Chun-woo originally he threatens him and then asks Chun-woo to handle his problems for him, in that sense, I had already decided I hated him. He was irredeemable in my eyes. But I am an opinionated person so ill let you draw your own conclusions on him.
One of the first things that popped into my head is, How could someone like that become a main character in a martial arts comic? How could Chun-woo even feel Shioon was decent enough to be worth the trouble in the beginning. Shioon somehow weighed on Chun-woo's conscience when he clinged to his words and finally attempted to fight back. As we get to know Chun-Woo better throughout the first and second parts of this trilogy, it is difficult for me to understand why he took a interest in the boy as he was back then, or felt any remorse or responsibility to help him when he got beat up. Sure he told him to fight back because it made no sense not to, but what could make him even care if he was beat up? As we get to know Chun-woo throughout the story his personality and his actions toward Shioon in the beginning just don't match up with his character, begging the question, is there some other unknown connection to Shioon that has not been disclosed in this story or the second one yet or is this just a glitch in the story. Maybe as time goes on we will get to know better why Chun-Woo decided to take a chance on a kid like him, but as of now it remains a mystery.
I have heard some other people complain that The Breaker has many cliche parts to it. However, I don't agree with that argument. In fact I find the story to be quite original compared to other stories I have read recently. The actual meaning of Cliche is: "an expression, idea, or element of an artistic work which has been overused to the point of losing its original meaning or effect." In reality, I think most comics that are released have many parts to them that have been done before in some way. It is hard in this day and age to come up with truly original things that have never been used in any way shape or form in another work of any kind. However, The Breaker, Is more original than many of the new comics being put out today. Not only that but, the meaning of cliche makes it so that it has to have been used so much that it looses its meaning or impact when it is written. In that way, I don't think anything in the breaker has been used enough to lose its meaning or effect when it is read. To be fair though I cannot make that decision for anyone else. Cliche is something each person has to determine on their own. The only prerequisite is that it has been done before even if it is not in the same type of story or context. It is up to each individual when a certain action or phrase isn't feeling as intense as the first time you came across it. That being said, I don't find it Cliche in any way so far, but I suggest you read and draw your own conclusions.
My favorite Character in this Story is Chun-Woo. I find him to be the most interesting character. I am a woman and although this is going to sound shallow, it's my opinion piece so I can say it. I wish there were real life men who are like Chun-woo. He is handsome, strong, and has a air of mystery surrounding him. But in the interest of not annoying any reader's I get who are men, I will leave it at that.
I would have to say this story is not geared toward children the way Bleach and Naruto is. It has many adult themes, though no actual sex, it is suggestive. The violence level is as high as it can get pretty much but unlike in the main stream manga like bleach and naruto the characters actually bleed and get hurt the way a normal person would not just a few drops of blood from a huge sword wound or getting bashed into a wall without a scratch. The comic makes the characters actually look and feel real. It does not have the fairy tail feel to it. I have two young boys. 7 and 9 so I feel I can give a good assessment on this. Be careful letting any young children see this, especially if they are impressionable, like almost all children. However, as parents people should be reading what they allow their children to read first so you can draw your own conclusions.
I guess to rap this up without getting too into my opinion with certain aspects of the story which would spoil it for you and also make you continue to read a even longer and drawn out opinion post, I will just say this one last thing. I think the author did a extremely good job catering to all sorts of different audiences. Usually when authors try to make a story fit too generally into what every type of person will like, the story doesn't turn out that good. This story surprised me in that way because it has aspects of so many different genres rolled into it without losing any of its appeal. I would not suggest this comic if you are extremely against violence, or too young but if that is not the case, you will almost for sure enjoy reading this story and become a fan.
