Berserk Opinion

Berserk Manga Opinion Review

I have yet to find manga equal to Berserk. In terms of Dark manga this is the best hands down. I fell in love with the story and have read it countless times waiting for the new chapters to come out. It has been almost a year and now the author Kentaro Miura after almost a year has released that he will be doing a new 6 part mini-series that is futuristic. I was kinda bummed cause I am more into historical and past genres not future type stuff. However, hopefully after that he will get back to Berserk quickly.

I watched the Anime, and Movie Series as well. They don't really hold a candle to the manga itself. Many things are changed or left out in many parts other than the eclipse and they have not done beyond the golden age arc in animation. Though there is talk that the Movie series will be going beyond in some way.

I think Farnese is one of my favorite women characters in any manga. She is so much better for Guts than Casca but until Guts decides that he actually has feeling for her I will root for whatever he wants though. She is interesting. Though she doesn't show up until the Retribution arc. She is my second favorite Character next to Guts.

In the first 3 volumes Guts is drawn differently, not as well as he is drawn further into the manga however, the landscape art ever since the beginning was incredible and the story is insanely good. I suggest it to anyone who is not squeamish about blood and guts... No pun intended. Its really a great manga. Though many ask what manga they can read that is alike to it... there is none that are truly anything near.

-----------Spoiler --------------
FAVORITE PARTS ABOUT THE MANGA BERSERK

Everything up until the beginning of the Hawk of the Millennium Empire Arc (vol. 22–35) was written really well and I enjoyed all of it. Even the beginning which was not quite drawn as well after going back I was able to truly appreciate it compared to the more recent 2 Arcs of Berserk.

I think my very favorite parts in the Golden Age Arc are right before and During Griffith's rescue. Which is unfortunately done really poorly in both the Anime and Movie adaptations. One of the best parts in my opinion is When Guts and Casca are alone by the waterfall. I think it is unfortunate that they modified it to not have Guts strangle her while having a flashback then explaining to her. That is when she started to visibly reciprocate his feelings more than just accept them. My other favorite parts during this period of time were the talks and interactions before getting to Griffith, after they find him the fight with the  Bākiraka and also The fight between Guts and Wyald in which it seems that casca really does care for Guts wholeheartedly. I am a girl and I love romance so this is my own favorite stuff though really the manga has cool stuff for all sorts of people. Honestly I think it's probably more geared to Adult men than women but I actually prefer male manga sometimes... it depends on my mood.

I enjoy Guts Attitude during the Retribution arc with only a few exceptions. His Dark Jokes, and Attitude make him one of the best Struggling Anti Hero Characters. I pity him but though he is angry and not really moving forward he refuses to give into despair either. I really liked when he tells Farneese not to pray but to fight when they were being nearly swallowed by the darkness during griffith's awakening.

If anything good came out of the last 2 arcs at all it was that Guts is on better terms with his son and I liked when he fought beside Zodd... there were a few good parts spaced throughout... but they have become more and more scarce. Though I believe things will have to begin turning around back to the way they were in order for it to end... I don't believe there will be a fluffy ending by any means.

ISSUES WITH THE MANGA BERSERK
I have quite a few issues with the manga as well. Just like with most manga there are some things I dislike, but I still love it as a whole, despite the things that have been irritating me. I know I am not alone in many of my issues. I will not write a whole book of issues here. Though I have many of them. It is 333 chapters long so far and nowhere near finished so it goes to reason that there would be more problems than a story with say, 1 volume.

First off. Casca. This woman irritates me beyond almost any other woman in Manga. There are very few exceptions. Honestly even from the beginning she is selfish and emotionally weak though she acts strong to gain favor from Griffith. I just don't see what Guts, a truly strong person both physically, mentally, and emotionally, could see in such a mean spirited, selfish, annoyingly weak and fragile girl. When I say fragile as I said before I don't mean physically though she is nowhere near as strong as Guts or Griffith.
Just as an example, I was talking to someone else about when she is telling Guts in that cave about her and Griffith's past before they are found and Guts had to fight those 100 men. She tells him that she was ALMOST raped but Griffith saved her by giving her a sword to protect her own life and then they go to see this nobleman they work for who rapes little boys and all of their eyes look completely blank. However, she is not thinking of these boys... She is thinking about what ALMOST happened to her and shaking and comforted when Griffith put his hand on her shoulder. What about the poor boys? Casca blames Guts for everything even things Griffith does of his own Volition and when he Leaves she blames Guts for everything that happens to the band of the hawk. Her stupidity continues with when she decides after sleeping with guts and telling him to basically not be selfish and include her in his life that he needs to leave by himself without her because Griffith decides to get on top of her and she seems to have decided to go back to wanting Griffith. During the eclipse she seemed still unsure of what she wanted. When she woke up while Griffith was doing her she didn't struggle as much as you would figure. As guts was loosing his eye she was kissing Griffith back. Her only words to Guts were don't watch... uhhhhhh!!!!!!! He cut his arm off for her and she is just so upsetting. I quit reading at that point for weeks after the eclipse when they woke up and she didn't recognize guts and didn't want him to touch her... I had to stop and calm myself down. I at that point wished I could reach through the pages and choke her. Even to now she is brain dead and Gut's is looking after her despite the hatred in her eyes when he gets anywhere close to her or their child. Which granted he did try to kill it when he saw it because it was evil. Though over time it seems he has come to accept it. He still loves her. That is my only reason to wish for their future. Though it is only because it is what he wants, if he would just cure her and then let her go be with one of his sidekicks while he found a more worthy love interest, that would be better. Though that's my opinion

I have issues with the fact that things have changed so much in the way the story was written. This was a Dark Medieval type story. Everything about it was. However after Guts gained his new Marry band things have become really annoying. How can you make Apostles and Griffith be good people and protectors of the humans in their kingdom... it makes no sense to me at all. All the band of the hawk were slaughtered and now we are supposed to see how nice they are? It urks me. Apostles are NOT supposed to be like that. Apostles with little girls riding on their backs... its just stupid. New more fantasy creatures are emerging and the darkness seems to be lifting into more of a straight fantasy type manga... which doesn't work well for the berserk universe. Some fantasy is great. However, all guts is fighting now are weird creatures that are not even bad looking just mostly gross but not necessarily dark.

I was very sad when they had Guts almost Rape Casca I could understand his desperation and happiness at seeing her fight and his need for her... but it nearly ruined my love for one of my favorite manga characters. I am glad it didn't actually happen. Though it really gave me some conflicting feelings I didn't want to feel about his character.

Pirates do not belong in Berserk Manga enough said... though the last 2 volumes have almost been exclusively retardedness like that
'
The berserker armor takes away from Guts original potential on his own. It almost seems required for him to fight now... which I hate. I thought the Armor was cool in the beginning but his character is a little too dependent on it. He was a worthy fighter without it... beating apostles for so long. I think the berserker armor is a good addition but I hope it is not a permanent one. Its like someone who wants to win a fighting videogame just by pushing one button over and over. I hope he can tap his powers without it.

The manga seems to have become more main stream type shit over the years with the pirates and the different non scary fantastical creatures and the Apostles turning good. Its still not anywhere close to say bleach and naruto but it seems to be going in that type of direction which makes me want to gag... seriously.

Erotic Fairy Tales: Bluebeard Opinion

Erotic Fairy Tales: Bluebeard Manga Opinion Review

This is a short 3 chapter story from Erotic Fairy Tales. I enjoyed it for the most part. It wasn't my favorite however, it is a interesting way of changing a previously known Fairy Tale. Bluebeard was short and written well. However, I think the thing I liked best about it was how they drew the characters. The characters both men and women in this manga were drawn really beautifully. The artist's work is what really put this manga over for me into one of the ones that were memorable enough to review.

Now I will tell you the things I found a tiny bit annoying though understandable given its name and what I assume they are trying to do with the manga. The story was written pretty well and the art was really good despite them changing the story a lot, however, the ending was random for 2 reasons. 1 is that there is a page that seems to not belong but doesn't fit elsewhere at the very end. The bigger issue is the Sex at the end... I have no issue with smut in fact put in tastefully or distastefully it doesn't matter to me so long as it flows correctly with the story. However, the sex between Kain (Bluebeard/ruler) and his wife at the end seemed like a side thought added only because it is part of the "Erotic Fairy Tales" Collection of stories. It seemed to have no rhyme or reason and for those unfamiliar with the Bluebeard folktale and its historical similarities they would not even get why it was put in at all.

For those who do not know The Bluebeard Folktale was supposed to be about a ugly guy who tried to get permission to marry 1 of 2 sisters. However, neither wanted to because of rumors and his looks, both tried to push it off on the other but eventually after a lot of persuasion the younger got married. When Bluebeard was leaving his house for some days he gave some keys to his wife and told her she could open what she wanted except for one room. She was explicitly told not to open. She got too curious and opened the door to the room and found his previous wives dead there and lots of blood she was scared and told her sister. They were going to flee but he came home early. He was trying to kill them and then the girls brothers came and killed him before he could kill them. Having no children the wife ended up with all his money. I looked it up the historical similarities to the folktale and one was to a serial killer called Gilles De Rais. Another was in a biography of  St. Gildas about a woman who was warned by the ghosts of her husbands past wives that he killed them when they became pregnant. If you want to know more about these I suggest Wikipedia. Anyways, this man in the manga was by no means ugly in any way. Also they said nothing about pregnancy or past wives, it seemed in the manga he was her savior.

It is a good story if you are looking for a short smutty story with good art that is not too close to the original Bluebeard Folktale or lore. Children should not be reading this but given the title I assume that would be obvious to most. It is not a dark manga at all which is surprising given the nature of the original tale. Check it out if it sounds like something interesting to you.

Hanatsukihime Opinion

Hanatsukihime Manga Opinion Review

Hanatsukihime is one of the first manga I had read long ago that wasn't a anime that I had watched previous to getting into the manga. This one is short. Only 2 volumes, however, it gave a lasting impression on me. The art is beautiful the story is good. There is very little in this manga that I would complain about even a little bit. However, there is tons of things I want to praise.
------------Spoilers within this part of my opinion ----------------------------------------
First let me say my only small tiny issue with this manga is the lead girl Lys selfishness. I can understand it though because dying is a scary thing. Truthfully her desire to live originally didn't bother me cause she didn't know it would be at Siva's expense so truthfully that didn't bother me at all. It wasn't until later when she found out the truth about Siva and got scared of Siva and just left it as he fell off a cliff. She then lived past the contract for months while Siva was sealed and in pain without seeming to have anywhere close to the feelings she once had for him, she thought of him often but the thoughts didn't seem to be that of someone who loved him. She seemed confused and stayed with prince russet. He told her not to run away, but she seemed like she had no plans to do so anyways. that is when i had issues with her, but she realized near the end that she was being cruel to Siva the whole time and that she wanted to save him and that is what made me like her again. She was young so I took that into account and didn't Judge her too harshly throughout the stories. She was drawn beautifully though. I truly loved the art.
Siva was a awesome Character. He was drawn to be dark, mysterious, handsome, tolerant toward Lys, and Smart. I really liked him a lot. I was glad when the story ended up not being as tragic as it seemed like it was going to be. Though. It had a feel good ending. Though I was wondering, if he got his heart back, was he back to not feeling things? That was after all why devils made the game so they could feel human emotions, however, if he got his heart back wouldn't he revert back to feeling nothing. That would be sad. I was just wondering since it seemed like it would be be better if he could still experience love and other human emotions. I liked his human form the most but his devil form was also very beautiful. He seemed to have the ability to grow plants and use those as his weapons. I wish they would have given more info about Siva's power.
-------------------End of Spoilers -------------------------------------------------------
This story was very good. I just wish it would have been longer. There was so much they could have expanded on. So much they could have done but still, it was a short. sweet light romance. This is one that should have been licensed in English however, it has not been yet. There was nothing offensive or adult about it. It would be fine for younger readers. I suggest it for anyone who likes supernatural and romance genres.

Yume no Shizuku, Ougon no Torikago (Drops of Dreams, The Golden Birdcage) Opinion

Yume no Shizuku, Ougon no Torikago Manga Opinion Review

Also Known as: Drops of Dreams, The Golden Birdcage

This manga is a interesting one to me, because it is not just your run of the mill romance. There is complexity to it but that complexity doesn't come at the expense of rationality. It really is too bad that the place who does the scans is overburdened with projects so it tends to take the back burner to many others. It is definitely worth checking out though.

The creator who makes this manga is the same who made the manga Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori 15 years earlier. That is a romance I was going to review recently but ended up writing a rant on my tumblr blog instead of a full review. I was surprised to find they both were from the same creator. The quality of story is so different it is like night and day. However, this mangaka has been doing this for a long time and has made many manga beyond the 2 I have said here, she is truly very talented and the one I am reviewing now started out in 2010 is her most recent work. She is still working on it.

This is one of the few manga in which I don't have many complaints about the female protagonist. She is actually quite interesting and beautiful. She is strong, but in a feminine way which I always enjoy the most in women characters. She seemed a little airheadish in the very beginning, but soon after she was a great heroine for all the rest of the chapters I have been able to read, she is pretty, wants to learn about the world, will not cower to the other women in the harem, is quick to learn and react correctly in difficult situations.  However, just at the end of the last chapter she learned of a rival in her true love. One that had the right to be with him unlike her. With this, it is possible that the story could take a turn in a way which will bother me if she acts shallow or too straight forward with her, but over all I will still like the story.

The king Suleiman  is not ugly in fact he is very handsome and Alexandra (known as Hurem later) says she feels comfort in his arms, plus she knows very little about King Suleiman and he seems like a decent guy for her. I don't understand why her heart still beats for Mateus though, he was the one who bought her and trained her for the very reason to give her to the king. Hurem and Mateus obviously both care for each other, but, for his own reasons he decided to give her away. Both the King and Mateus seem like good guys. Plus it seems like both men are sexually active with each other or at least messing around with each other. From what Ive learned though, that was not all that uncommon in those times. Maybe they will share Hurem with each other. Though, I foresee their love for Hurem actually driving a stake between the relationship they have.

So far though I know little about any of the characters other than Hurem, Mateus is the most unknown. He seems like he is hiding something. I wonder if he is biding his time waiting to overthrow King Suleiman for some reason unknown to us yet. He is very smart and has a air about himself that is definately greater than a Head Page which is his current title. He is drawn very handsome as well. More so than the king even in some ways.

Overall the art is very good and the story line so far is very interesting. I always look forward to reading more when it comes out. Its got adult scenes in it, but so far nothing is really shown within them. I suggest this to anyone who may like to read a complicated romance that is diferent than the average romance.

Loop (oneshot) Opinion

Loop (Oneshot) Manga Opinion Review

Loop is a extremely interesting oneshot. Though short, This manga was very unique and very memorable for me. Though I don't search it out in my manga Psychological is fast becoming a genre in which many of my favorites fit. This one is no exception. I've also been on a action kick lately. I still like romance too. This oneshot fits all my favorite genres... so it was obvious it would be one I liked.

The word bubbles on the first and last page bother me a little. Its just a tiny little thing so it doesn't affect my rating for this manga but, its just, i don't understand why its needed, it really didn't add anything to it, in my opinion. At the very beginning and at the very end it seems like some invisible entities are speaking to each other about what they had put into place and how it resulted. To me though it didn't add any deeper meaning and seemed totally worthless. However, I am sure someone will see it as interesting. It didn't bother me that much though. Also just to nitpick... perhaps i am desensitized but i didn't see this as a horror genre, however it is classified as that. Supernatural possibly but horror is usually scary, this is not

The art was great and went well with the subject matter and very detailed throughout. I especially liked the action scenes and the way the main characters were drawn. The story itself was excellent as well. Though it ended on a note that was satisfying. I was really enjoying it and wished they could have nixed the talking spirits at the end and had them reincarnated or something and  kept it going... though honestly if I think about it that would be a little hard to carry off too... i just wish they could have made it longer and that the main characters could have understood each other a bit more before the end.

This is a oneshot you don't want to miss. Short and interesting. A good read. There is no smut but there is violence and death so if you are squeamish about that maybe you wouldn't like it. It is not scary though. However, If you have no issues with those things. Don't pass it up. Its a good one.

Honey x Honey Drops Opinion

Honey x Honey Drops Manga Opinion Review

Honey x Honey Drops is one of the few Shoujo Manga that I really enjoyed reading. It stands out in my eyes among the many shoujo romance manga that I have read. The art is beautiful, the story is delivered really well and it is really hilarious in some parts.

The main male, Kai character was drawn extremely handsome for a high school boy but seems to gain a older look in the end. I really love it when the artist makes the characters grow like real humans. Other than him though his rival that is trying to get rid of his honey is drawn extremely handsome as well and I like the traditional clothing they put him in.

I didn't have anything I could really complain about about this manga other than the main girl Yuzuru was a little bit too dumb for my taste in some cases. Also she seemed to like to get herself into troubling situations where she could become the victim. Also in some of the cases with Kai's fiance I didn't like how she acted, however, the fiance was way worse. I didn't like her at all. However, I may be being slightly too critical of Yuzuru given her age in the story. Some of the things she did were absolutely hilarious though. Though she cried too much for my taste. Near the end her relationship with Kai was really heartwarming. He was a sweet guy under the rough exterior.

If you do not like smut. Though this manga is excellent you may want to avoid it. It does have a considerable amount of smutty scenes. However, the story was impressive. So if you are one of those types who does not like smut too much but will like a story if it is good even if it has some sex scenes in it. I think you should still give this one a chance.

Over all anyone who enjoys a good Romance should read this Manga. It is in my opinion one of the best Shoujo romance manga out there. This is coming from someone who can stand to read very few manga of the school life genre. So you know its got to be good.

There is a anime as well however, I have not had the time to view it. So I cannot give my opinion on how good the anime is. I plan to watch it eventually though and when I do I will tell you if its worth checking out as well.

ChunChu Opinion

Chunchu Manhwa Opinion Review

I just recently got really into this Manhwa. I am glad that 3 volumes came out in English even if it seems to have been dropped by dark horse that way I can at least support the creators somewhat. This Manhwa is a really good read but its dark and depressing so far.

Chunchu is a man who seems to have been born under a unlucky star. He is a good guy who was persecuted  by everyone so much that he hardened his heart and became close to the very thing he was accused of being. He is a lonely guy who trusts nobody because of how everyone has treated him. People are trying to kill him always, he is always misunderstood, abandoned, and betrayed by the people who have taken him in. He was born a twin. His twin brother was the one who is evil. Even as a baby. his twin brother gave him a awful fate. He tried to avoid his own destiny by switching his with his brothers. Though truthfully, I feel for his twin slightly too since he is unfortunate as well and is trying to deny what he truly is. I truly hope that in the end Chunchu will have people who understand him, know the truth and help him clear his name.

Although sad, depressing, and violent so far, this story was written and drawn extremely well and is worth checking out. Especially if you like action, drama, and fantasy genres. My opinion of it in general is very high. It is currently one of the few I am following closely.  I plan to add more to my opinion of it as the storyline progresses. If you are someone who doesn't like to read anything violent then this Manhwa is not for you. However for everyone else, I highly recommend it.

Honorable Baek Dong Soo Opinion

Honorable Baek Dong Soo Manhwa Opinion Review

(The Swordsman)

This Manhwa has a great story line to it and the art is in my opinion really awesome. I love historical genre, though it may at times only loosely fit history. History is really interesting in my opinion especially war and conflict so I usually enjoy these types as long as there is some depth and story line to it and good art.
This Manhwa is complete in Korea and has become a well known K-Drama so when you look it up many times you will stumble on the K-drama even more than the Manhwa itself. I have not had the chance to watch the show yet. However, I hope I can find a subtitled version at some point because from the shots I had seen looked pretty interesting. However, personally I prefer to read.
I have only been able to read 2 volumes of this Manhwa so far since that is all that is scanned into English. I hope it makes it to be licensed in English but as of now it is licensed in French, which gives me at least some hope for English copies. The people who originally did the scans have put the project on hold about a year ago. Though they have not dropped it completely so hopefully they will pick it back up when they have some time. Honestly I wish they would replace it with one of their others until it is finished. However, they do scan a few of my favorites on a regular basis so maybe I am being selfish. It has left me really hoping to be able to finish reading it though. I wish I could read French.
The main character's name is the same as the title, Baek Dong Soo. He is a interesting guy who seems slightly thick headed but has good instincts for fighting. He has the type of personality I enjoy in a main character of this genre. He is a underdog now but has a huge amount of latent talent which is like the usual main characters in these types of stories. However, there are tons of mysteries surrounding him and others within the Manhwa. There is also lots of conspiracies, and many things that are not how they appear even in the early stages of the story. This Manhwa grabs the attention of it's readers and keeps it.
The art is really good. The characters are drawn intricately and the fight scenes are drawn extremely well too. The art does a good job of living up to the story. Personally other than the fight scenes I like how the clothing is drawn. I know that is a odd thing to pay attention to, however, that is just me. One of my biggest issues with some other manga and Manhwa out there is that the story is great but the art doesn't live up to the story. In this one however, the art never disappoints.
I suggest this to anyone who enjoys historical and action genres. It is a violent story so if you dislike that type, you probably will not like this one. However if you like action, you will most likely enjoy this Manhwa like me. So check it out.

Annarasumanara Opinion

Annarasumanara Manhwa Opinion Review

(Webtoon)

This Manhwa was extremely interesting. When I read the description I was not sure I would actually like it and passed over it many times. Finally I tried it for the first time about a month ago. I was hooked from close to the beginning on and was not able to put it down until I finished reading it. It is very interesting and has some excellent plot twists. I wished something else would have happened in the ending. Though the creator left it in a way that satisfied me slightly on the last page. I won't ruin it by telling you though.

R (the magician) was handsome but he was also slightly weird looking as well. His look in my opinion complimented his personality and eccentricity well. His face at times looked younger than he truly was. His personality was what really made me think he was interesting though, he was naive, yet at times he spoke in a way that showed his years, he was usually at least a little crazy, yet had a knack at helping others when they wanted and needed it and he seemed to be able to tell the awful girls intentions when he meet her. He is a good judge of character it seemed. He was a great main character.

I almost put it down in the beginning for a few reasons. First. The girl, Yun Ah-ee, was poor, so I understand her obsession with money, but her attitude at times with the magician (R) and others kinda upset me. Yes she was struggling but the way she acted at times made me really upset. However, as time went on her attitude did get not as annoying and by the end I had actually liked her.

The other issue I had in the beginning that I cared less about as time went on was the rich and supposedly handsome smart guy in her class named Na Il-Deung. I am a fan of good art and the artist was extremely good at drawing and drew the magician (R) very handsome and the girls all looked good too. So why did they make Na Il-Deung that was supposed to be handsome so weird looking with his long neck head... it looked just odd. I couldn't get past it really. Perhaps it says something about my own personality to not be okay with the weird looking handsome guy. But it really bothered me. Perhaps the long neck was symbolic in some way. However, I didn't understand it. Then as time went on they drew him to look normal. It seemed his long neck had to do with the form of his struggle but since I didn't understand how it could mean anything. I really wish they didn't do that. Though I loved the story. This bothered me but it was not anywhere near enough of a problem to make me feel like putting the book down.

Though there is a weird romance going on in this, it is hard to explain but it is definitely not the type of romance you see in other books. It is very unique. There is no adult scenes at all so that is nothing to worry about for younger readers in that type of way. The romance is somewhat unsatisfying in my opinion. However, it was still good. So If I could wave a magic wand and add something I wish there was more romance than there was. However, it was a very innocent romance and cute in its own way.

I have read hundreds of manga and manhwa. This is not a exaggeration. This Manhwa is unique in all ways. I have never read anything like it. It is hard to find a manhwa/manga or even a book for that matter that doesn't have something very similar in it to others. Annarasumanara is one of those truly unique ones with nothing to compare it to. I am sure all sorts of people will enjoy it if they give it a try. It has some good messages to take from it as well. I suggest it to everyone. Check it out.

Princess no Kakurega Opinion

Princess No Kakurega Harlequin Manga Opinion Review

(Royally Bedded, Regally Wedded)

This manga was created from a harlequin romance novel called Royally Bedded, Regally Wedded. The Manga goes by that name as well sometimes. I have not had the privilege of reading the novel as of yet but I have read the manga. I plan to read the novel too eventually and when I do I will comment on the novel and how I like it compared to the manga.
Princess No Kakurega is short but falls into the category of one of my top 5 favorite Harlequin Manga. I think it is a great story. It actually deals with some interesting subjects like body image, and self esteem in positive ways and its all wrapped up neatly in a really good romance. Its not a shallow romance between the perfect barbie and the wonderful prince who falls in love at first sight. Many harlequin ones although geared toward adults have the fairy tail story outline with very little deviation. Though there is a prince like in most fairy tales and their is a happy ending it is very unique in many ways. I really enjoyed how down to earth the characters and story was.
One of my small issues was that Lizzy is supposed to be a bigger woman. Though she is bigger than her sister. She is not drawn big, actually though shapely her waste is pretty thin when she wears things that are tight. So though for the story's sake she is supposed to be bigger, I think they could have made her a bit larger but still pretty when she dressed up. I know it is a small point to harp on but since this manga had a lot on body image, I thought I would just point out something I thought about while I was reading it. I think it has a good lesson about body image and self esteem so that is a plus.
-----------------------------------------Spoiler Below--------------------------------------------

Also,  in the middle of the story, Enrico married Lizzy for Ben and to keep his word to her to not separate her and Ben. I think he thought of her as someone he respected as a good mom for Ben at that point and someone who he could relate with. Even when he came back he said something to this affect. He also said he realized how much he loved them both while holding Ben at the end of the story. However, I never actually heard him say in the manga that he loved her specifically, their relationship looked more comfortable and to me I liked how genuine it felt even without the words "I love you" repeated over and over. They looked like they at least cared deeply for each other. Personally I think it is nice to have a relationship where you can tell that someone loves and cares for you without having to repeat the words over and over to verify it. In the beginning the marriage sounded like a obligation marriage which he grew to fully accept over time and slowly starting turning into love.  In those last few pictures and what he said in the other ending pages they truly looked very happy and like the ideal long lasting family.

This manga was very good. I have little I can complain about. I plan to read the book because I have a feeling it will go into the story deeper and actually be better than the manga in some ways. I suggest this manga to pretty much anyone who enjoys Josei Romance. Its a really good one. There is some adult suggestion in it and 2 pages with them in bed but nothing is really shown. I have seen many harlequin with more in depth sex scenes so I don't find it to be too much for people who try to avoid those scenes in manga. Its a quick read. Only 1 chapter and well worth it. Check it out.

The Breaker New Waves Opinion Update

The Breaker New Waves Manhwa Opinion Quick Update

The Breaker New Waves Has gotten better in the past few chapters. We are now 115 chapters into The New Waves and only 1 chapter that had a piece of Chunwoo in it in the real time story. It's Sad. All other parts are just mentions of him or seeing video of him or Shioon remembering him. As I had previously stated I never liked Shioon to begin with much but he got better near to the end of The Breaker (part 1). Then when his ki center was broken he went back to bad. Finally now Shioon is starting to be the way I like him again. I know some people liked the way he was in the new waves before and probably adamantly disagree with me. However, this is just my opinion. I also disliked the Black Origin Threshold he did at the school and the whole situation of him against the SUC at the school was a dumb plan to begin with. To me The Black Origin Threshold looses it's thunder when it becomes the only possibility of fighting back. However, I do like the way he is now at the Island. He seems strong in his convictions like he has been throughout the whole story, but at least he's not just a punching bag like he was for the past 100 chapters of The New Waves. The previous 100 chapters he won by talking to the opponents, by people stepping in for him when he needed help, by taking a pill so he can almost win with a high cost to it, or going into the Black Origin Threshold because its the only card he has so he can win. He can finally back up his strong will again at least somewhat without loosing consciousness.

I am finally beginning to feel like i cannot wait to see another chapter like i used to feel. Though I still like Goomoonryong better. It's too bad that I think they will eventually have to fight in the end. At least that is the way the story seems to be leading in my eyes and a lot of other people i talked to think so as well. I like the way The Breaker New Waves is now. However, I am pretty sure we are near the end of The New Waves and about to start part 3.

I know I have said this previously, but I truly hope, sometime soon, The Breaker becomes available for sale in English. I want to be able to support the creators as do probably a lot of other american readers. I wonder if the Publishers have a reason why. The breaker is for sale in pretty much every other major language than English. There is rumors i have heard, that it was licensed in English but the company went out of business before ever putting one out. I also heard another rumor that it was because the publishers could not agree on a amount. I also heard somewhere it was something to do with currency conversion issues. I wish it would get fixed. I am sure I would buy at least all the volumes of The Breaker (Part 1).

That's pretty much all I had to update. I will do another review when Part 3 of The Breaker is at least a few chapters in. I only did a second one of The New Waves because my original Opinion of The New Waves was bad so I thought I should tell anyone who is reading my reviews that it is getting better.

Zennou no Noa Opinion

Zennou no Noa Manga Opinion Review

Depending on where you find this manga it may be called Zennou no Noa, Zenno no Noa, or Noa the Almighty or something to that effect. It is a short but good manga I stumbled upon a few nights ago by accident while going through finished projects at some of my favorite scan sites.

This manga's only major flaw is how short it is. Near the end it almost seems as though it could be a dropped manga. They ended it really fast without enough explanation and they could have really done so much more with it. However, it was still good despite this fact and worth checking out for those who have not tried it yet.

Noa is a really interesting character. In the beginning you really couldn't tell what type of guy he was. His personality sort of reminds me of Lelouch in Code Geass, but he's different too. He keeps you guessing that's for sure.

I have many unanswered questions to this manga. I may write a fan fiction eventually just to satisfy myself. I couldn't find any fan fic surprisingly enough though.

Below here is a few things i wanted to say that are spoiler-ish so don't read the next paragraph if you don't want to:

I had some major questions about this manga that should have been included in the manga. For instance what happened after the missiles went off and the bright light at the end? he seemed to have regretted deploying them at that point but it was too late. Though he was able to make one that gave everyone their memories back before so i assume he could just do that. Also, how did he become the ruler before the story took place and he lost his memories? He said everyone inside that building would keep their memories intact. What happened between him and the police officer? What about the kids that were his brother and sister when he lost his memory. What happened to them after their memories were erased again? That's just the beginning of the unanswered questions.

End of spoiler.

I think this is well worth people's time to read. it's short and interesting. It claims to be ecchi but i didn't see really much if any of that at all. I would say it is not inappropriate in that way for most people. Though perhaps i am wrong. Ill let you draw your own conclusions. This manga would be interesting to people who enjoy action and psychological genre's mostly. Though their claims to be romance there is actually very little. There is a little sexual harassment by a teacher but that's as questionable as it gets.

The Queen's Knight Opinion

The Queen's Knight Manhwa Opinion Review

Well I had decided to review this one and it took me a long time to finish reading what i could and then learning about the ending. I had no real inspiration to finish it. I had thought the beginning seemed a bit like "From Far Away" a story in which I loved, in that it is a girl who came from a current time and fell into a different sort of world. The love interest was a guy with more power than most... that is where the similarity ends.
I am actually at somewhat of a loss to find some reason to suggest this story to anyone at all. When she first got to Phantasma that is when I liked the story the most but it went downhill from there. It seemed at the beginning that it could have been good but they chose a bad way to turn.
Yuna was really annoying I couldn't really like any of the characters much other than Rieno and he was not all that great either. I don't really have much I can even get angry about about this story or worked up about because it was so blah....
I do not usually like reverse harem books so that was it's first strike. It is tame though which is not always a bad thing. There is nothing child inappropriate in it. In fact i could see see some pre-teen girls really getting into this story. This story is as young shoujo as you can get. It really is. So it was difficult for me to even decide to finish it in order to review. However, now that i am done i am sort of at a loss. It is a tragedy at the end. So if you actually like the book and Rieno and/or Yuna keep that in mind.
I really don't have much more to say about it. To me it was a let down. I think people who enjoy young shoujo romance with lots of young thinking people involved in middle school like drama's then i think you may enjoy this. However, I don't really think i can suggest it to anyone.
I wonder if maybe the reason why it was never picked up after tokyopop or scanned with frequency after it was dropped by tokyopop is because it just isn't all that great.

High School Of The Dead Opinion

High School of the Dead Manga Opinion Review

High School of the Dead is a good manga. Though it has a bad rap. I enjoy reading it. It has some faults. However, it is still definitely worth reading for me. The anime was surprisingly good as well. Usually the anime version is worse than the manga, the only issue with the anime is that it leaves off at a point that you really have to start reading the manga. I actually started with the anime first. Though there are some differences in the anime it goes along the story line in almost the same way. The animation is good too so if you like the manga you should check the anime as well.

The absolute biggest issue I have with this manga is that it is so unreliable. I have never seen a manga be on hiatus as much as this one that was not completely dropped. I by no means hope for it to drop. It would suck to not see the ending. The new chapter after a year and 1/2 hiatus is out on the 9th of April 2013 in Japan. However, before that year and 1/2 hiatus the chapter before that one was after a year wait. The one before that had a shorter wait but still longer than normal. The chapters before that were out almost monthly. TriageX was started by the same author and this was put on the back burner. I had no interest in TriageX though. I never read it and it is not the type I want to read. It upsets me that this one plays second fiddle to it. However, there is nothing I can do about it. I just hope there will not be another year or year and 1/2 hiatus after this chapter. It seems like they could rap it up if they want to just get it done and over with soon. However, I hope that it is not like that. However, I am pretty sure it will be because the creators are obviously not as interested in doing it as they used to be. At least that seems to be the case to me.

As far as the story goes. I really like it. I think its really interesting. Though Zombie Apocalypse has been done before many times. This one is, in my opinion, better than many of the others I have seen and read. It has a ton of interesting characters and dialog that set it apart from the others.

As far as the characters go. I like Takashi and Saeko the most both as a couple and as individual characters. I also really think Kohta is a interesting character. Takashi is pretty much the lead. He is a pretty cool guy. Though I hope he kicks Rei to the curb completely after saving her. I doubt he will. Its too bad too cause Saeko is 100% better and would be a better girlfriend and would probably keep her promises too. She is not petty and full of drama like Rei. Takashi and Saeko and Kohta are the ones that don't have extremely annoying personality flaws. I really wish Rei's boyfriend lasted cause I thought he seemed like he would contribute some interesting plot to the story and also so Rei would not be on Takashi all the time. Kohta the gun lover is a interesting guy. He was quiet but as soon as it all goes to crap he is super reliable. I like that. Kohta's Love interest Saya, is bossy and a bit annoying but that is the type of character she is supposed to be she fits her character type well so she doesn't get on my nerves. The same goes for the bimbo nurse.

Rei is the most annoying character in the whole story. I cannot stand her. She dates Takashi's best friend when she was with Takashi originally and then blames Takashi for breaking her self proclaimed promise to be to him for them to be together forever. She feels no guilt or qualms about being the type of bitch to dump her boyfriend for his best friend. Takashi saves Rei from her boyfriend when he turns into a zombie by killing him just as he asked Takashi to do, but she is a complete bitch about it. Not even a day later she is getting angry that other girls like him like she has forgotten all about dude who died and she acts as though Takashi is now her property. She gets angry about other girls when they do things that he has no control over. If he actually ends up with her in the end. Which will most likely be the case by the way it is written, I will be so upset about that.

Over all this is a good manga and I suggest it to older teens and adults. It has a lot of fan service (though no actual sex as of yet) so if you have issues with that, it might not be for you. If you have a issue with that though you might have a issue with all the violence and blood as well. However, the story is very good and if you don't have too much of a problem with those type of things it is definitely worth you checking out.

Crepuscule Opinion

Crepuscule Manhwa Opinion Review

*webtoon*

When I first started to read Crepuscule it was just being started up for the second time. At the time I had been on a supernatural romance kick and was looking for different manga by deciding to try just plain supernatural  genre without romance. So I gave Crepuscule a go. I really got into it in the beginning however, I slowly fizzled out over time. I still catch up on it every so often, because I do like the story, its just not one of my favorites anymore.

First I will start with some of my issues I have with this story. Though sometimes there are beautiful backgrounds. Many times in the story there are pages with no background around the character. I am not a artist or a author. I know it takes a considerable amount of time to finish the drawings and I also know that there are deadlines, but, I feel kinda sad that there are beautiful backgrounds some of the time but others there are none for no reason. That is one of my biggest qualms for this series.

The Webtoon has a pretty interesting concept  I thought the idea that the supernatural creatures created a different dimension in which they could live separately without humans was pretty cool. The types of creatures and their backgrounds were interesting. Curses, special abilities and stories of each of the main characters were also good.

One of my small issues I had was that Lark, the human boy with red eyes like a vampire was brought to the other dimension by Setz who was a young boy and wanted to help him cause he was bullied by others and hurt by his family for having red eyes. A short while after coming Setz goes back to his dad and they are no longer friends. That close relationship they seemed to have disappeared and even when they met as teens neither seemed particularly close. Lark pretended he didn't care which is kinda like something a girl would do not a boy. The type of feeling I got in the beginning was that they were going to be good friends but then for about 50 chapters it seemed like Setz didn't even remember and that he must have just helped him on a whim even though he seemed more genuine earlier. It was annoying to me.

I think they have some interesting mysteries in the story that will unfold soon. Though Lark appears to be human. I get the feeling that he is not really all he appears to be.  So I look forward to reading more about him and all the rest of the characters.

Over all this webtoon is a good one. I think any age can enjoy it but mostly younger teens. It is not the usual type I enjoy but I still read it and catch up from time to time and I am glad I checked it out. I don't think anyone would find it offensive or to have anything not suitable for certain people. At least as of now in the story. I suggest it to anyone who enjoys the supernatural genre.

Masca Opinion

Masca Manhwa Opinion Review

WARNING, I HAVE A EXTREMELY STRONG NEGATIVE OPINION ABOUT THIS MANHWA. I DO NOT RESTRAIN MYSELF AND I HAVE USED A FEW SWEAR WORDS. I HAVE A FEW POSITIVE THINGS TO SAY TOO BUT MY NEGATIVE THOUGHTS ABOUT IT ARE THROUGHOUT THIS REVIEW.

When I first wrote this review I was seithing with irritation over one of the characters. I ended up writing quickly and my review suffered from the amount of anger I was feeling. Looking back it was damn near unreadable and since I feel no desire what so ever to ever open up this shitty story again I will just go ahead and say what I said in summary in an easier to read way (When I get really upset about something I type quickly I forget words and don't explain myself well and the review I had posted before was what I ended up with. Now for Coherance sake I'll rewrite my opinion (From what I remember it's been a few years but you couldn't pay me to read this thing again)

Whats good about this story:

The Character art was exceptional. It's really too bad given how horrible the majority of the characters actually are.

The Demon Lord (Kainen) is for the most part decent though he has his moments of stupidity after all he likes a character that is so horrible that it makes me question if the only reason he liked her was because she would be his potential doom.

The setting of the story is pretty unique and interesting too bad the characters and the story couldn't have built something good from such a good starting point.

Whats bad about the story:

Almost everything with the exception of the 3 things pointed out above. The worst of it is Asarella and Eliwho.

In my original review I couldn't get over how absolutely Horrible Asarella was and to be honest I still cannot, I have not met a character equally bad yet and I have read over 400 titles of romance manga, No words can describe how ridiculous and stupid she is. Still I downplayed how absolutely horrible Eliwho is because I was so irate with her character. Truth be told, they are equally crappy and deserve one another to wallow in their own indecisive, crappy, horribleness together until they die. I just feel sorry for the Kainen. I know there are some people who disagree. That's fine. But if you have not read this manhwa yet be warned that unless you like indecisive whining bitches who never know what they really want and play innocent as they ruin lives around them you probably won't like her. Don't let the first few volumes fool you. This title goes downhill fast! Eliwho's horribleness is more widely accepted. Honestly, it's too bad they went that route with his character cause as a father figure that didn't cross that barrier I would have liked him a lot more.

I must reiterate some people will read this manhwa and truly enjoy the story. I know some people do or else they wouldn't be making a prequel and sequel. They would not have gotten it licensed in English if it was not a big seller. Even if the English company went out of business after the first copy and it was never picked up by any other company. I can only speculate but I think some of my blog readers may enjoy this manhwa. My biggest advice is don't let the first few volumes fool you. This manhwa changes a lot. So instead of saying who this title would be good for (since I don't really think it's good at all) I'll tell you who this manhwa would not work for:
- If you dislike Love Triangles this is not a book you should pick up.
- If you dislike cold ignorant yet act as if it is naivety leading women who want their cake and eat it too or don't know what they want so they just hurt everyone, then this story is not for you.
- If you want a story that doesn't portray a demon lord as the only redeemable character, this story is not for you.
Otherwise, if you are not one of these types you may enjoy reading the story cause it is beautifully illustrated, unique and well written. It is not for anyone below young teen since there is a lot of sexual scenes and eye candy (it's in a tasteful way usually though).

As far as the sequel or prequel goes. I have no real interest in trying these. Especially the sequel. However, there is a group scanning them, so if you enjoy this story you may want to check it out.

Kuroorihime to Kawaki no ou Opinion

Kuroorihime to Kawaki no ou Manga Opinion Review

Oneshot

This oneshot was tied as my favorite manga oneshot along with Adabana. It is really well written. Although it is only a oneshot the story doesn't seem forced to finish early. It doesn't feel like there are holes in the story to make up for lack of room. They could have made it longer and I would have loved that. However, it did a excellent job of making you feel for the characters and their situations.

I liked the main girl in the oneshot named Setia. Setia was a strong girl. Her strength wasn't annoying either. She was playfully awful to the king who had captured her and killed her village people. She also had a good sense of responsibility which made her more likable to  me. If she had just given up on her fiance and fell for the king, I would have really disliked her, it happens all too often in romance manga. The woman, all to often, forgets her prior promises and commitments and falls in love without a second thought. She doesn't even think about it until after she does something that cannot be undone. This is the type of lead women I dislike. However, Setia is nothing like that. She also is nice to the king when he acts decent. She tries to be understanding of him while at the same time keeping true to her own boundaries. This I cannot respect more.

King Azurite was a great character too. King Azurite is the type of strong and cold man I enjoy reading about in the lead of romance. He is a awful man to many but he originally finds Setia to be interesting it seems and the feelings develop from there. He seems extremely emotionally guarded and with good reason too, since according to him people have tried to kill him since he was small. He was handsome but had some quirks. He looked good at night when he was poisoned and when he was fighting. I really kinda wish we could find out more about his past and also about what happens after the end of the story. However, regardless his character was interesting.

This oneshot was created by a mangaka that I have read some other interesting stories from. However, this is a older oneshot of her work. It is my favorite of the ones that I have read so far of hers. If you like this one though you may like some of her longer works as well. The characters are drawn well and the stories are always in depth and interesting.

Overall this oneshot was a great one and well worth anyone's time reading. Though there is a bit of possibility of adult situations that were insinuated may occur there is no really adult parts to it in the end so it is fine for preteens and up. It's a very good read. One in which I wish there was more back story and story going forward but that was good enough to make me love it just as it was. I suggest anyone who would enjoy a short but good romance story to check it out.

From Far Away Opinion

From Far Away (Kanata Kara) Manga Opinion Review

From far away is a really great manga. My opinion of it is extremely high for a shoujo. Apparently its one many people think highly of as well since it has won awards. It's a romance. However, unlike most romances, the action and adventure do not get a back seat to the romance. Though the main characters become extremely close there is no smutty scenes. The romance is about on par with Samurai Deeper Kyo just a bit more clingy and sweet.

The art is pretty good. Izark is drawn great but Noriko, looks not even 1/2 as good most times. I think it may have been the desire of the mangaka to make her looks average for a young teen, but they made her look weird sometimes. I personally think they could have done a bit of a better job with her. The biggest issue I had was when she closed her eyes. I dislike the way they drew that. However, I have seen manga drawings like this before and they are by far not the worst I have seen. It doesn't make me want to put down he book or anything. I am just saying my own gripes. Izark is extremely handsome and you could tell, even as he changes into the sky demon form, the author spent a lot of time making him. There were many ugly people in this book. Like they were drawn to be that way. There were pretty girls as well. However the extremely pretty ones were on the bad side and had horrible personalities. I wonder if that is the mangaka's take on pretty girls.

The story line was excellent. That is the best thing about this manga. It was a extremely well thought out and creative world too. The different creatures and plants in this manga were all very interesting. The mangaka even made a map of what the world the Awakening came to looked like. Some the world of this manga kinda reminded me of a series of american books I liked as a teen. Not the story line but the way the world was and the creatures. They were about a place called Pern. The author was Anne McCaffrey. In that same way, because the world that they were in was so well thought out, it was my hope the mangaka would perhaps do other stories of adventures of these and other connecting characters. It's too bad. I think it would work well. But it doesn't look like that will be the case.

I really developed feelings for the bad guy near the end. Lord Rachef, It was too bad that he did not live. He was empty. He had a horrible childhood. He became evil through that. Though Izark didn't have a rosy childhood either and hated people in the beginning because of it, he was different cause he didn't want to cause pain. Peoples trauma manifests in different ways. Rachef didn't want to kill Noriko though, I think he hoped for a relationship like what Izark had. A relationship where he felt fulfilled and truly cared for, not because of ambition or because of something else. I think he had potential to change his ways. However, there was no side character that was perfect for him. Tazasheena was evil and ambitious and full of herself. He didn't like her. He was also those things, but she was perfectly fine with being the way she was she was not looking to change at all or be fulfilled by anything other than her own evil ambition. I know Izark and Noriko felt for him too in the end. That is why they did what they did. However, it's still too bad.

Overall I really enjoyed this one. It was long but not extremely long and it never made me want to quit 1/2 way though it. There were a few things I didn't exactly love but there was nothing about the story that I took a strong dislike to. I thought it was excellently written and the award the manga received was well deserved. If you have not read this manga. You should give it a try. The romance is light and the action and adventure is really great. This manga is good for all ages.

Abide in The Wind Opinion

Abide in the Wind Manhwa Opinion Review

Webtoon

Abide in the wind is a spectacular fantasy/romance manhwa. I have only been able to read 8 chapters in English but I have looked at all of the webtoon available on naver in Korean. There is 65 in all so far, and I cannot wait to be able to read more in English so I can read what is actually being said.

The art in Abide in the wind is the best I have ever seen in a manhwa or manga. I love the way the characters are made, the scenery, and backgrounds. They are done if full color with intricate detail. If you love good art then you should check this one out. It will not disappoint you I promise.

It is not just the art though. The story is really great so far. The creator is obviously multi talented. It's truly awesome to be able to do such a good story and exceptional art as well. I am not sure if I will dislike anything about the story in the future, but so far I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this manga.

I like both the Reana and Lord Kairak, but my favorite character is the obvious one, Lord Kairak. Lord Kairak is the last dragon on earth. He seems to have 3 different forms, though the one inside that pond where it seems like it's a different dimension is my favorite form (at least I think that is Lord Kairak). He doesn't really know or understand much about the human world. It seems also he starts to get extremely touchy as time goes on when anyone even touches Reana. Which is cute in its own way because he knows nothing about humans or his own feelings it seems. Though in some part it seems like he is not necessarily into her but into the dragon pearl that was placed inside her to purify it and keep it safe. At least initially I think that played a role in it. Though I don't know that for sure either. That's speculation based on what I have been able to understand without the text in later chapters, from just the pictures alone. Though I have a favorite character all the characters are drawn really beautifully and creatively.

I also like that this is not just the run of the mill love story. It has some interesting and great fights between power users which seem to be trying to either kill Lord Kairak or take the Dragon Pearl from him and Reana. The powers and items are uniquely and beautifully drawn. It also seems like it is not one of those stories that focuses so much on the love that everything else is background noise. The love is pretty innocent so far which makes it a  good story for all ages except extremely young kids cause some of the bad guys could be considered scary. The fact that the love builds innocently goes along with the characters personalities well and doesn't take away from the story or make it seem like its being prolonged.

In short The drawings are incredible the story is great and the characters are interesting. I suggest this one to all people. I think it is a real hidden treasure. It may not be very known by English speakers yet, but I think it has great potential. The only problem is the English scans are rarely released. However, I have been told by the group that is scanning it that they will be continuing to release it. So check it out.

Akuma na Eros Opinion

Akuma na Eros Manga Opinion Review

First I will eliminate everyone who it will serve no purpose to read any further to get to know about it. This manga is smut, I have read very few that are this smutty. So if you don't want to hear about sex or see sex. This manga is Definitely not for you. In fact, I would say this mangaka's works are not for you in general. The other thing I feel the need to tell you is this is a love story between the devil, a angel, and a virgin... so if your uptight about Christianity and cant take this as just entertainment that is not reality and read it like that. This is not for you.

Akuma na Eros (Virgin Crisis) Is a manga that I really enjoyed a lot when I first read it. That was 5 years ago. However, I read it again right before I made this review and I didn't feel it was as good as I initially felt it was when I read it years ago. I realized one of the biggest reasons why it wasn't as good now is because this Manga is made more for older teens and extremely young adults. So when I read it now, at almost 30 years old. I didn't find it as amusing. I can only write from my point of view now, however, if you are in your young 20's or old teens I think you will enjoy it more than I do now.

The main girl, Miu is young and annoyingly naive. She got on my nerves especially in the beginning even when I was younger. However, her stupidity is required for the story to progress as it does in the beginning. So I guess it works. To be honest though, she is very much like a 15 year old. I did a lot of dumb things when I was 15 too. I think I was younger than 15 but when we were at sleepovers me and my friends would ask ouiji boards if the guy we liked liked us. I never believed in the stuff... my mom is a strict christian so I never owned a ouiji board but I had friends who had them. So I can believe that she prayed to have someone like her and look more adult like and try to use magic. However, even though she is very much like a young teen, that doesn't mean that I like that kind of character.

I actually liked Kai (Akuma/Satan). The way the author drew him and the way he was, he obviously was a dark guy, however, it's always a young girls fantasy to have the bad boy love them and be gentile to them. Kai was the ruler of hell and a bad man, as bad as a fantasy guy could get really, but he loved Miu and protected her. I liked the way they drew him. I also enjoyed some of the love scenes.

Michael (the angel) was the popular guy who was good at everything and had a flock of people following him around. He loved miu too... I liked him too for the most part, though his character could have been more in depth. I liked his angel form better than his form on earth. The long hair suited him. I also enjoyed the couple fights between him and kai both on earth and in heaven.

The people who did the scans no longer are doing scans so the only place you can read it in English is a online reader. I am grateful for the scans, so don't get me wrong about that, but the quality of the scans translations was bad. Not the worst I have ever seen but pretty bad. So if you read it, be prepared.

The story over all was good when I was younger I liked it a lot. Now I find it to be more mediocre but it's still good. The art is good. The idea is interesting, and I still like Kai. I just didn't feel as fulfilled by the story line. This author has other stories that are better. However, since this was the first one I read and became interested in the author's other works because of this one, I thought I should review it. So over all, I think it is worth people's time to check out. I would say it is mostly a girl's manga and one made for older teens and younger adults but it is still good if you do not fall into that age group and are looking for a fantasy romance with some smut.

Trump Opinion

Trump Manhwa Opinion Review

Trump is a pretty good manhwa. It is on it's 4th chapter this time around. It has been discontinued and started over 2 other times before this one... the one going now is supposed to be the official trump.

From what I read so far of this one, I actually liked the first 15 chapters I got the chance to read of Trump ver.1 better than I like this new one. I read that Trump ver.1 had a little more than 30 chapters released but was discontinued. The fighting between the gods looked really cool in the previous trump which I hope they eventually do again in this one. The story this time seems to be going slow compared to the previous version. When I had read only 4 chapters of Trump vol.1 I was hooked, this time it is a bit different. Perhaps it will go in another direction entirely with the story. However I suspect, though it is a slow starter, this one may end up being really good in the long run. I don't dislike the new version, its just that I liked what I read of the previous version more.

Since the new version of Trump is still in it's infancy, I cannot give much more of a opinion. The only thing I can do is offer a more full opinion after more of the story comes out. Even though the new version of Trump is not as good so far, it still has a ton of growing room and I think it's very possible that it may turn out at least as good as the previous one in the long run. I suggest Trump to pretty much anyone. It is one of those rare stories that would be a good read to both children and adults. Of course that is something that parents will have to decide for themselves on a individual basis. It is not my favorite manhwa at this time or one I suggest more than the others I have blogged about so far, but if you are looking for something new to read and it sounds interesting to you, you should give it a try. I suggest that you try out the first version too, since it was pretty good.

A Wife in Time Opinion

A Wife in Time Harlequin Manga Opinion Review

(Akai Houseki no Himitsu)

This is a harlequin and one of my very favorite Harlequins too. It's a short one. Only about 125 pages from start to finish. Also unlike many harlequins other than the harlequin pink series which is for the younger crowd. It has no sex in it so it is not a bad one for young teen girls to read.
If I am being honest. I tend to be pretty hard on women characters. I am not sure why. I think it might have something to do with the fact that they are representing our gender. However, in this one the girl did not annoy me in any way. She was strong, but in a womanly way. She was smart, had good intuition, and wasn't super dramatic or needy like many other women in manga. She was real down to earth. So she is my favorite character in this manga.
As with all harlequin it is based on a novel. Since it was one of my favorites of all the harlequin manga I will probably check out the novel too. However, I have not gotten a chance to buy it yet. I will also add a bit about the novel here when I get the chance to buy and read all of it.
The guy was kinda more straight laced than the type of guy that I enjoy reading about. However, he wasn't bad and he became more interesting to me as time went on throughout the story. He was a bit annoying at the very beginning when he was accusing her, but i understand that it was needed for the plot to work so it is forgivable.
Over all I enjoyed the story. I thought the characters were pretty realistic. The story was unique and the art was pretty good for a harlequin. Some harlequin manga have horrible art. But this artist did a good job. I don't really have a ton to say. Though the manga was short. Its shortness did not affect how good the story was in any way. I suggest it to anyone who enjoys harlequins as well as anyone who likes romance genre in general. Check it out.

Gwi Opinion

Gwi Manhwa Opinion Review

Gwi is a good Manhwa. I read it many months ago and then read it again right before this review. If you enjoy martial arts/ sword fighting comics. This one is a great one for you. This story is not a romance either so if you don't want to read romance. This is one of the ones you may like. It does however have a lot of violence and it does have mature content. So It is probably not a good one for kids, however that is the parents call and not mine. Gwi is just the right length for the story too. It is not long and drawn out. It stays exciting.

The story has quite a few interesting characters in it. The story twists near the end in ways that I wasn't expecting. I won't spoil it for you but I always enjoy stories that are not so straight forward. Gwi is definitely  one of those. There were a few major plot surprises. I especially thought the reasons behind the main antagonists were not as expected. The other thing I didn't really know is how many games and stories there are that in some part mention the Murim. I didn't do my homework and assumed that Murim was something that they called the martial arts world only in the Breaker. Now that I looked a little into it. I found that it is not only used in Gwi and The Breaker but in other stories and games as well. In all the ones I ran into it is used to describe a martial arts world but when I looked it up I couldn't find any reliable definition that wasn't tied to a manga. One other interesting little tid bit. Everyone in this story was looking for this guy Chiwoo who looks a lot like Mu-Sang. After I put the Murim stuff together with the Breaker and Gwi, I already had the Breaker on my mind. I just thought it was odd that this illusive and strongest guy in Gwi that people thought was dead was named Chiwoo, and how close that sounds to Chunwoo, The illusive and strongest in The Breaker that many people in the alliance thought was dead. The stories are during different times in the world and are different in many other ways too. However, I just thought it was interesting that it had some similarities.

Mu-Sang is the main protagonist in this story and he is a really interesting guy. I like the way he is drawn. Not only is he handsome (yes many of the manga / manhwa I review have handsome guys in it, and no that is not why I pick them out to read...lol), He has interesting hair. I like how his hair is drawn wild. I think its cool and different. In real life it would look really odd with it... but in here it looks cool. The guy is really unique looking.  Mu-Sang is strong and a loner. He is not extremely bright, but he is not stupid either. He is the silent type usually. He really is a interesting character I am sure others will think so too. I was a bit sad that Mu-Sang in the end didn't end up with Yeo-San-Hwa (the lead girl) but then again. I knew it wasn't a romance so I didn't expect it either. I'm just a sucker for romance. The story was good anyways though.
I recommend the story to anyone who does not dislike violence. It's a good read and the characters and plot is interesting. I wouldn't call it one of my favorites but it is by no means one of the ones that I have problems with. It has plenty of action and never has parts that you have to drag yourself though to get to the good parts like in some other manga.

Ookami-heika no Hanayome Opinion

Ookami-heika no Hanayome Manga Opinion Review

Also Called: The Wolf King's Bride

This manga is cute in my opinion. Its light. Not the type I usually read. But well done none the less. It is definitely the best shoujo I have read in a while. I don't usually read shoujo romance. So you have to know that this one is good.

This manga's plot is interesting enough. The king hires Yuurin to be his fake consort. I think there is probably some history that Yuurin forgot or there is something that caught the wolf kings eye before she came to the castle originally. But that is all speculation. The wolf king is supposed to be ruthless and she is frightened of him. So he claims it is all an act and acts cute around her to make her feel comfortable. However, as they grow closer maybe he won't have to only be cute around her. Yuurin is always getting into trouble and is in peril because of something or another and he always helps her. Over all I find it a interesting read. I like historical type books. I like Ruler/Commoner romances and I like strong leads guys. This one has all that.

Yuurin is also strong in some ways... though she does act young a lot so she gets on my nerves at times. She is the girl who was asked to pretend to be the wolf king's bride. I like that she is true to herself. However my biggest issue is that even throughout many chapters she is still scared of the wolf king when he is ruthless and dominating which is part of his true personality. Its not like he is doing anything to hurt her, in fact she gets scared of him when he is protecting her which is ridiculous in my opinion. She thinks she is falling for him but she won't accept part of who he really is... though since it is a romance, I am sure it will eventually change to be truly mutual and accepting.

The romance is real light. The type of romance they have is suitable to any audience. It is at times annoying to me because the wolf king is handsome and has the right to have multiple consorts but he just sticks to her and he is older and more mature. So I don't really get his reasoning. I understand he doesn't want to marry any of the women who seem to be forcing themselves upon him or their fathers forcing them upon him for political gain or to gain his favor in whatever way, however he could pick another wife that has no background with the palace one that is more mature. I don't understand why he doesn't at this point. This is just my opinion but the sexual tension must be pretty high for him. He must like to punish himself...lol. Sorry I was joking a bit there... but in all seriousness. It is cute. Not a full on romance. Even when they become romantically involved, if that really happens, I assume we won't be seeing much more than kissing. That is just speculation. However, usually in stories that they eventually do more there is more progression by now in the story line towards that.

I don't really have much to rave about this one. I think it is a good read. One in which all ages can read not just older people. It doesn't have tons of blood or tons of adult situations. I think it is more geared to people who like shoujo manga but that doesn't mean people who like Josei wouldn't like It. I am mostly a Josei reader when it comes to women geared comics and I still am a strong follower of this one. So check it out if you get a chance.
